Vietnam's textile industry resumes strong growth momentum

According to the latest report of Vietnam Textile and Apparel Group (Vinatex), in the first quarter of 2022, the total revenue of Vietnam Textile and Apparel Group exceeded VND 5.1 trillion, equivalent to144.2% of the same period last year and 28.5% of the plan in 2022; pre-taxprofit 376.7 billion VND, equivalent to 173.9% of the first quarter of 2021 and 39.6% of the 2022 plan.

Mr. Cao Huu Hieu, general manager of Vietnam Textile and Garment Group, said that the strong growth of the textile and garment industryis due to the fact that the epidemic has been brought under control, and manyorders have been signed as early as 2021. As for the yarn industry, companiesbasically seize the opportunities in the market in a timely manner, the priceof cotton is reasonable, and many companies have started to stock up on cottonfrom 2021. For the apparel industry, labor is relatively stable, the epidemichas been basically controlled, and there are many orders. Many companies have even signed orders for the third quarter of this year and the fourth quarter of2022.

As for the textile and garment industry in southern Vietnam, Mr. Ly Mac Thuan, deputy general manager of Vietnam Textile and Garment Group,said that in 2021, the garment industry will face many difficulties. One of the biggest difficulties is the spread of the new crown pneumonia epidemic (COVID-19), which has forced a large number of laborers to move from industrial production areas to various places. However, by early 2022, when workers returnto work after the outbreak is under control, growth in the apparel industry hasregained its pre-pandemic growth momentum.

According to statistics, the average income ofenterprises in the southern garment system of Vietnam Textile and Garment Groupincreased by 1.2-1.5 times, and some of them increased by 2 times compared withthe same period of the previous year. For example, the operating income of Viet Tien Head Office increased by 10% in the first quarter; Nha Be Head Officeincreased by 20%; Dong Nai Garment revenue increased by 100%; Southern Head Office increased revenue by 100%, with an increase of 400 employees; Vietnam Textile and Garment Group The operating income of the Investment Development Joint Stock Company increased by 70% compared to the first quarter of 2021 andso on.

Mr. Nguyen Thuong Hai, deputy general manager of Vietnam Textile and Garment Group, pointed out that the textile and clothing industryhas experienced positive changes in the first quarter, especially after theleadership of Vietnam Textile and Garment Group found a strategic partner. Inthe first quarter of 2022, the output of the textile and garment industry is6.2 times that of the same period last year, and many companies have realizedprofits of nearly 30%.
